The new perspective on vocational rehabilitation counseling: application of Chaos Theory and Complexity science

Linear, traditional rehabilitation counseling theories attempt to analyze the human behaviors but fail to account for the dynamics of a given complex situation. This study presents a theory of rehabilitation counseling drawing on Chaos theory and complexity theories. The purpose of this article is to set out the key elements of the Chaos theory and complexity of rehabilitation counseling and to illustrate how these foundational concepts are particularly relevant to contemporary vocational rehabilitation counseling. Chaos theory and complexity can provides a more appropriate description of human behaviors, and can be applied to disabled people"s behavior in vocational rehabilitation counseling settings.
This study includes concepts of Chaos theory and complexity, research of Chaos theory and complexity about human behaviors, the vocational rehabilitation counseling to application of Chaos theory and complexity science. Moreover including the new perspective on vocational rehabilitation counseling to application of Chaos theory and complexity science through counselling quadrant by Pryor and Bright, Goodwin and Munt. Therefore, it is concluded that a major ongoing challenge for vocational rehabilitation counselor is to assist disabled people to understand their behaviors.
